Sorry,I went off on one a bit at you ...and I can understand your annoyance re the strawberry plants.

I totally understand that not all parents can find the time in school hours to help out,I guess I was just fed up with how little help we've had from other parents this week...knowing that a lot of them don't work. The same then complain about having to find a small amount to help fund a school trip...if it weren't for the PTA they'd have to be putting their hands in their pockets to subsidise things a lot more...or certain things would have to be stopped.

Unfortunately most things come with a price tag...whether a money or time one...and I'm sure our school's not the only one that wouldn't be able to provide all the extras it does without the funds raised by the PTA.
Even if you can't manage to get to any meetings or help out,I'm sure they'd be pleased to hear of any ideas you have...when it's always the same people organising events things can get pretty stagnant.

I think there should be a PTA forum, if there isn't already one!!, at least then you can transfer ideas from different schools which have worked.

Look I'm having a good idea!!
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

When my daughter was at primary school we had the ususal few faces that turned up to meetings and to help out at Fairs etc, at the end of most terms a school disco was the norm till one time when not enough helpers could be there, the complaints from parents who used it as a babysitting place while they went to the pub or shopping was unbelieveable. They also moaned when trips etc were cancelled when not enough parents were willing to pay saying they couldnt afford £2 or so, but they always had a packet of cigarretts in their pocket.
PTA's do a marvelous job and even if you can only spare an hour its so helpful. I did it for over 25 years cos of the age gap between my eldest and youngest.
