Put me & di down for 2 'shop soiled' ones Wayne!
It does seem a shame if the damaged ones are just sent to landfill or whatever, I have a lovely old belfast sink with pots of herbs in & as you say some people would be happy to pay a small amount for them.

It reminds me of top gear when they tried to give away their vehicles in New Orleans for free, and someone wanted to sure them for wrong information as to the make and model of the vehicle.

Life today is indeed absurd, there should be a proviso in the law that if you willingly give something away freely in good faith that there is nothing wrong with it, or any known faults are highlighted. Then it is upto the recipient to ensure that said goods are fit for the purpose they intend to use them.

Surely something like this would ensure that a lot of perfectly adequate goods don't become skipped.

A lot of companies today have ebay accounts to sell on goods which were otherwise difficult to shift through showrooms. In fact a lot of manufacturers do likewise.

It's also to discourage staff from 'accidentally on purpose' breaking something and getting it for a bargain basement price....as used to happen in the old days.

Sounds like a good idea Wayne.

Could I pick your brains - if you work in bathrooms - is it true that coloured suites are making a comeback?

So much truth on this thread its unbelieveable the rules and regulations that abound today seem stupid to people with common sense.

However I hope I don't upset anyone when I say that most people here are of a `certain age` if thats a nice way to put it and they were around when common sense was looked on as normal.

Nowadays it seem to me that it is always someone else fault. You now the thing they hit their thumb with the hammer and they didn't miss the nail the hammer was faulty.

Just a point if you are professionally transporting recycled materials OK if its rubbish you need to be a licenced waste disposal operative.

Maybe a little bit of a comeback, but not to the point where we're stocking anything. Those that are manufacturing colours are doing so with vigour - striking colours, not the "avocado", "sorbet" and "salmon" of yester year. Lots of so called china/sanitaryware is actually stone resin, which allows more vivid colours and shapes (and patterns as already shown) to be created.

Apparently (and bare in mind I've only been in the industry a short while) the big thing at the moment is colours on what they call bathroom furniture. Lots of colours are making their way into bathrooms via brightly coloured cabinets, fixtures and fittings.

I agree it's daft, but I think these regulations have to do with fear of litigation if something goes wrong with the product, even if sold as 'seconds.' The whole health & safety thing is everywhere - even in the smallest room.

HW, I've been in the industry since '97, and things went from white and pergammon at that stage, to white only, and over the past 3 to 4 years a small amount of colour coming back in.

I'll be really glad to see bland beige become a thing of the past. I'm fed up to the back teeth of travertine and limestone tiles, with stone mosaics, and white sanitaryware, with chrome taps and accessories.

Porcelanosa, a high end tile manufacturer 5 years ago had beige white black and grey tiles, that was it!!! The brands your company represent are typically middle upper market, so they are a good year or so ahead of your ideal standard, and twyfords.

A bit of colour in our lives is good.

I used to work in a large DIY store.. I knew we'd be buying a house so when I was still a student working there, I'd accidently drop a tin of pain over something, or throw something off a shelf, to get it marked down.

I kitted my house out for next to nowt. Bad? Yes. They paid so poor though - perks of the job

Thanks for the input guys. We were putting new taps on our bath and sink to update the bathroom (I hate white bathroom suites) and sadly the taps were resined into the sink and it broke while Madmax was gently coaxing the taps out with hammer and screwdriver. We now need to replace said sink and quotes so far run at £178!!!! I was told that red and black shower trays are coming into vogue so I hope aqua makes a return.

Shirley, hammer+screwdriver = insurance company. Next time tell him to use a little heat from a blow lamp then they drop out.
