    Well, blow me!

"Organisers of a children's performance have given The Three Little Pigs a reprieve after they were originally ditched from the show for fear they may offend Muslims, a council said yesterday. Children from Honley Church of England Junior School in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, are performing Roald Dahl's version of Little Red Riding Hood."

Not to sound too Panto but oh yes it is.

The best way to improve teaching is to take out 2 teachers from every school and shoot them as an example to the rest......every week.

No, don't shoot the teachers it isn't their fault. The whole world has gone PC crazy. You have to really think before you say anything now, especially if you work in the education or caring sphere. It's a nightmare!!! Stupid thing is, most of the "service users" - another PC label I hate - would much prefer us to say it as it is. It's the beaurocrats who object.

I'm not in the business of offending people gratuitously, but anybody who is offended by the notion of 3 little pigs can be as offended as they like as far as I am concerned. I think it's time we stood up and said enough to this stuff and nonsense.

School teachers are rubbish, they only know enought about their subject to get the kids through the exams. They know nothing about life.

They go to school, go to University (school with a bar), teacher training (school) then back to school to teach.

The only ones I have respect for are the collage teachers who in the most part did the job, before teaching it. The people who taught me to weld were ex welders, they knew it back to front, they could do it.

They put poor as my son's report for his Computer use. When he was 6. I was livid and went to have a word with the girlie that was teaching him. "well he dosen't know how to use a mouse" she says. So we call the lad in his reply is that most of them are so cloged the don't work porpely so he just uses keyboard shorcuts. Missie looks blank.

So we go on to the pc and I say open word. Ctrl+Esc, Arrow up to programs and over to word. Go back to the desktop Windows +D,

"Where did you learn to do that" she says. "Ovbiusly not here" I reply.

Go on Shoot some sense into them.

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

You are kind of right NOG, I feel the same which is why I no longer teach. I lived alone in London, worked for three years, supported myself and experience some life before I went into teacher training. That was back in the 70's. Most of those I was at college with did exactly as you say, school, college, school and nothing else. It is wrong, and should not be allowed.

As for the teacher who decided your son couldn't use a mouse - presumably she didn' know they didn't work???

We used to have a saying: Those who can, do; those who can't, teach; those who can't teach, teach teachers.

Apologies to Johnty and the other wonderful, inspiring human beings who happen to be teachers on this vine, but please admit there are a lot of box-ticking fools in the profession.

There are a lot of box-ticking fools in all professions, unfornatley the ones which are teachers also have an impact on future generations!!!!!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Hey you lot, get off the teachers!
I work in a primary school, a good one, and our job is still basically crowd control. The "naughty" ones nearly always turn out to have "home problems" not intelligence problems...many have no discipline at home, so don't see why they have to settle down and learn at school. It is a total WASTE of those children's education. They could achieve, they should achieve, but we, and they, are not being backed up by their parents (a lot of whom didn't even bother turning up to parents evening last week, even though they'd made appointments. No respeck!
