The tricky bit is when you need to add a new handful of wool! My first prolonged effort (with a spindle) was Jacob wool, and it was very lumpy, as well as having the colour contrast, but I managed to 'ply' 2 strands together and I had made enough for my sister to knit a scarf. I think she still has it somewhere.
Shetland wool is lovely to work with, tricky because of the short 'staple', but very LONG staple is even harder to manage, and Shetland is such nice stuff to handle!

Jolly pleased that it came out quite even Flum. It is a little bit overspun so I have lots to work on!

Currently drying after soaking to set the single as I want to knit it as is without plying.

Can't remember how much mine was. Would recommend seeing what is happening on ebay.

Ashfords hold their price well, you will get a good idea of their costs on ebay. My traditional cost me £70 but there was an identical one on a stand at Wonderwool which was for sale for £190

It all really comes down to what the seller is prepared to accept - if she hasn't used it she may be happy to let it go and get the space back.

Thanks- I'm seeing her on Saturday- so I'll have a look at it then.
( do you think I could sneak it back in the car and hide it in our house without my OH noticing it?????)

                                Hi StG

I was at Wonderwool too and saw that Ashford Traditional for sale. It was a really good wheel in excellent condition. I only paid £80 for mine but it's nowhere near as good looking. But - so what - she spins brilliantly and that's what really matters.
                                Happy spinning
