I think I jumped straight in even though I can't swim!
I seem to remember reading about the website in GYO magazine & finding the forum, it was the first forum I'd ever joined & I had no idea how they worked. There were only a handful of active members then & I think the total was only in the couple of hundreds, not the thousands like it is now.
Now I know where 'Nicos' comes from Nicos, so you're actually married to the 'Greek waiter' some of us thought you yourself were at first!Into every life a little rain must fall.

I paddled about a bit then thought what the hell and jumped in.....I found it after first buying the mag and entering the competition online.....didn't win anything. Still enter all the comps and still don't win but one day my luck will change. Now completely hooked, lined and sinkered and my family all refer to as Mum's garden porn.....Last edited by binley100; 21-03-2011, 10:07 PM.S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

Erm, well, I remembered to introduce myself...then I posted something about blackfly on broadies, but I seem to remember being a bit tentative. I really got going this time last year after an operation left me laid-up for a week, and I decided to be brave and join in the chat thread - I've never looked back.

I was the one who stayed in the paddling pool for quite a while. Then curiosity got the better of me and so I dived in.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I honestly can't remember. I made an attempt at using the fantastic search facility to find my first post, but failed miserably (please don't beat me T_S).

I found my way here thanks to the power of the 'Satanic Search Engine' as Spongey calls it. I lurked for a few days, then really neeeeeeeeeded to put my two-penneth in to a thread (Story of my life! ) and so, I joined up. I was already buying the Magazine, but not every month, and my tiny mind didn't link the two to begin with.
Thanks to Aunty Mo, mainly, I got the incentive to actually get some Chooks, instead of just saying "I'd LOVE to keep Chickens!" as I had been doing for years. My initial aim, on joining, was to learn a bit about Veg. growing, as I had just 'adopted' some of my Folks' land and been given a Polytunnel frame. The frame is still as and where it was, as I still haven't got round to putting a cover on it! That is this year's project...
Unfortunately, this site is addictive, and I spend far to much time 'chatting' to people I haven't met, but we all have a common interest, and I think that's why this 'place' is as friendly and successful as it is.
