There is nothing scarey about a proper gas oven which lights properly. My parents wouldn't have gas in the house, but once I got the chance of a gas cooker (aged about 32) I prefer it and I've now used gas since before the current safety-devices to prevent you leaving the gas on-but-unlit. Our presnt gas cooker has a 'sparker', but lacks the cut-offs that stop gas coming out if the sparker hasn't worked, or the flame goes out. I still like using it.
I was brought up on electricity and since leaving home I've only actually had mains gas for three years. IMHO it's vastly overrated. When we finally manage to move we're going back to wood
DD finally asleep and I can go do something other than rocking her pram and chatting online - the real world here I come. No doubt you'll still all be here later on when I'm next back
