  • Not nice at all is it? Every time it breaks through the clouds I get all excited... and then it goes again.

Still, at least it isn't warm enough for midgies yet, so Grumpy can water in his turf in peace.

    • Had midgies here late yesterday as I was trying to plant a huge batch of fruit canes in just one bag of compost (actually managed by reusing old pots full, scarily). Course, this morning was pea soup fog just incase I dared to hope for sustained sun.

      • Gosh, do you get midgies all the way down there?

        • Don't think they're quite the bloodsucking type you get in normal weather (they seem to be wimpier down here in the midlands tbh), but they were definitely forming a cloud and I am pretty sure one got me as I itched like heck all evening!

          • Horrible things. They love me (must have tasty blood) but they seem to avoid Grumpy.

Our last house was in a wind tunnel. Made gardening a little, erm, interesting, to say the least, but at least it was hardly ever calm enough for the little horrors to hang around.

there is an avon product which deters midges. Can't remember what it is but I'm sure I read that the SAS even use it, it is so effective.

                        • I can see the competition is fierce!
If you could all just see it in your hearts to let me win, that would be great! I have 3 18 month old boys about to wake up from their naps and another boy to pick up from school at half 3. So as you can see, I shouldn't be on here really
