  • how much paint

Hi, looking for some genius help. Probably not everyones taste, but I am looking to paint the sides of a 1m x 1m (20cm high) raised bed with coloured exterior paint, it is to be my LOs patch (me looking after it meantime, she is a bit too young at 9wks..lol). Wood is already treated so just for colour.

I can get a 125ml tester pot, how much should that cover/how many pots would I need. Don't get opportunity to go to shops much so would rather get a little too much than not enough.

Blurb says : A 5L tin is normally sufficient for: Brush: Smooth planed wood: 40m² Brush Coverage quoted with 2 coats however a third coat may be necessary to achieve a uniform colour and to give added protection to horizontal surfaces. Coverage may be less on weathered or absorbent wood.

    thanks
    Elsie

I havent got a clue about how much paint you need, but I would just like to congratulate you at even considering doing this sort of stuff with a 9 week baby!!! I think I was barely managing to get dressed when my two were at that stage!

your bed has an area of 0.8m2 assuming your doing the outside only

      so 10 litres = 80m2
      so 1 litre = 8m2
      so 0.1 litres = 0.8 m2

how's about buying a few of the testers and returning any you don't use for a refund? in the ordinary case, I don't think you will need much but you say the wood is already treated so getting your paint to stick may be a problem and you may need a few coats.

thanks Pies, my math brain seemed to be going nowhere tonight.

Hadn't thought about it needing more coats as treated, so will get extra and keep receipt.

SO frustrated after getting almost nothing done last year while pg and not being so well during, that I am itching to get going. Things are done in very short spells.
