  • Lost wedding and engagement ring.

I can't beleive it, but there seems no other explanation. A while ago when I broke my wrist, I took off my wedding and engagement ring, and put them in my purse. My hand was swelling, and i didn't want to loose them. Stupidly, I never moved them, they were 'safe' in a seperate section to money and cards. Yesterday evening I cleared out the car, putting everything in a carrier bag, and left it in the kitchen. Tonight I come home to find OH had put the rubbish out to the bin men, including the carrier back of car stuff, without checking what was in there..
I've lost around £100 in cash, my rings, will need to cancel cards etc. He's lost a nintendo ds, plus 3 or 4 games. Because I was in a hurry I'd just collected it all up, so there was rubbish in there too, and he thought it all was.
We've been married 30 years, so losing the rings is a major upset, and I can't even find one similar on the net. I will have to report it to get a lost property number I think, then claim on insurance, £50 excess, and lose no claims, but I suppose that's why we pay. However we haven't any receipts for them, so I don't know what I can do to prove we had them.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Oh, how horrible for you (((((hugs)))))

My mum lost her wedding dress when we moved down to Yorkshire, as it was on a hanger with a bin-bag over the top and someone gathered it up with the rubbish... She was fairly distraught for a while, mostly kicking herself for not getting a proper dust-cover...

I think BB is right though, if you look in photographs there are bound to be some showing your hands.

What a terrible thing to happen to you. You have my sympathy.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.

Barleysugar: What a sickening thing to happen. My heart goes out to you (((Hugs))). My Mum had her engagement ring stolen by a trusted neighbour/workman who was in doing some work a few years ago. She always left it on the dresser when she was doing housework. She discovered it missing shortly after he had been in the house though at first she thought it was mislaid. She couldn't prove anything but we just knew
She also had her ring 25 years but was unable to claim on her insurance.

Go out and treat yourself to a new ring(s). You will always grieve the old ring(s) but not having any rings will just make you feel worse and new rings will help you draw a line under this awful episode.

By the way did you contact the bin company?
We had abig story afew years ago in the West of Ireland where a bag of gold claddagh rings were picked up by the binmen from a jewellers in Galway. When the mistake was discovered the dump and binmen were contacted.
They did their upmost to search the tip and thankfully they were found! Worth a shot!Where there's muck there's money; LOST GOLD RINGS FOUND IN TIP. - Free Online Library

I feel for you. Sentimental value doesn't have a price but you can at least have some fun choosing new ones
AND, you and your husband will have to have a celebration to mark the arrival of the new ones!

Sorry you lost your rings - what a frustrating way to for it to happen as well.

Maybe you could pick out new ones together, it might make the new ones special - even cheapies, they could be a fresh symbol.

I feel for you I really do - I lost my wedding and engagement rings few weeks ago too Although I have no idea how as I never take my rings off... I think that it was a combination of having lost a little weight and having had a recent course of steroids for a swollen finger (due to arthritis) which ironically didnt help the finger but made the others smaller!

Couldn't claim on our insurance as we didnt have them named as possessions. The Valuables section would have only covered them if they were stolen or in a fire or similar. Hope you have better luck.

My mother has given me her Great Aunts wedding ring to wear, which makes me feel a bit better.

                      <<<hugs>>>

I know how you feel, I've lost my wedding ring recently. I don't think it's insured either. I feel naked without my ring on.

Deffinatly contact the bin men you never know they may have found them.
Big hugs though and if not found treat yourselves to new ones. Do you have a special anniversary or birthday coming up that would mean you could have new rings.
