  • Hi glad to know others are as confused as me - and it doesn't take much - I'm new to the site as it is - hope it gets better and easier to use!

Probably needs you to "Clear Cookies" - but, if your browser allows it, probably best to only do this for this site alone - otherwise your browser will forget passwords and preferences for all the sites you visit.

I expect you've done this, and know what I mean, but if not let me know what browser you are using and I can describe the steps in more detail.

      • Mikeywills, you're Top Banana to raise this issue?
and I am RIGHT behind you on the 'I no understand Mr. Fawlty', because I turned 50 last October.
(Oh my Lord! what the hell have Management done? Completely TRASHED the Smileys that I've just got used to using in my postings?!? )
DEAR POINTS OF VIEW. WHY oh WHY oh WHY ?

I remember another growing food to eat forum when they changed it's 'curtains and furniture' one year, and their online members created SUCH a stink about it, and the 'Powers That Be' (not the Mods, obviously, because they're just doing a valuable and unsung hero kind of job because they want to, or have time on their hands.....) And Management told them to in as many words to pipe down on the niggles, or go forth and multiply. If they didn't, they'd unplug the priviledge of the forum altogether.
And I admired those brave words from Management, because it is not our automatic right to have this forum at our disposal peoples, and let's just remember that for a moment....
It is possible to tell Management what's wrong with their beautiful forum, and believe me, I'm never backwards in coming forwards, so I shall be ahead of the queue when I want to say something important, and no mistake.

I'd like to propose THREE CHEERS for all of the hard-working staff of GYO magazine, that allow us this forum.

And let's appreciate what we have, and try to improve on it, with both them and us.

I can promise you one thing though....
If any of the changes aren't working for me, and you feel as passionate about the very same thing as I do, as A Grumpy Old Person, I promise to invite Management to lunch, and have a Grumpy Old Word, and thrash it out until they pay for lunch...... And guess wot....................
        You're all invited?!

        • This forum is a big asset to GYO, and I don't think we're in any danger of being 'unplugged'

Admin Dave has already started a thread asking for feedback on any 'bugs or issues' with the software, and said that things will be gradually changed/mended/corrected as and when they can be. Of course some things we'll be stuck with, because some things are part of the software, rather than the 'styling', but where possible, we'll get the Vine as close to 'home' as it possibly can be. And as someone else pointed out, we'll soon get used to the rest

So, yeah, moan away chaps, that's what this thread is for And hopefully all the other niggles will soon be sorted (eh Dave? )

            • Has anyone noticed that quite often in a lengthy post, the word at the end of the line is repeated on the second line of text? It hasn't happened to my posts (and yes I know mine are sometimes quite lengthy), but I've seen it a lot on other peep oles.

                • taff.... you think I am, and I know I'm not? but bless you for worrying about me....X

And being such a grumpy old person like Mikeywills is, call me stupid, and how very dare you, I'm completely crap at computers, only just getting to grips with stuff that I know (then you go and pull the ruddy rug from under my feet) and I now haven't got a clue how to change my user signature when I've updated my blog.
Give a girl a break Dave?!

                    • If you click on the 'Log in' button, but without filling in your username & password, it takes you to a log-in page, and on that page, there should be a 'stay-logged-in' button

                      • Don't worry Bilbo - I logged-out one day recently (I don't usually) and couldn't work out how to stay logged-in when I came back. And that's after reading about how to do it on here! LOL

                        • I seem to have lost the ability to see who is On Line/Off Line. Must be yet another symptom of senility.
