That may be so....but they still look like scarey bits of sweetcorn to me.

I'm OK with it now, too. Everything I used to use is still there. I expect there's 'stuff' that's moved, but I'll find it if I need to. Or I'll just moan about it! LOL
    No change there then.....

And the clock is now fast......aarrgghh

      New Format

Am I the only person/member that finds the new format horrid, difficult to understand, and extremely unhelpful.

I should have to say, I started a thread complaining about the revised site, but it sodded off into the ether. Obviously accepting criticism is not GYO strong point.

The revised site is horrid, it is nothing like its former self, and whoever designed it should be shot.

It is hard to understand, very complicated and not user friendy.

          I HATE IT.

I have made two attempts to register my dislike of the new format for this site. It is horrid, unintelligible, aka rubbish.

I don't know who thought it up, but it does NOT work.

Oh dear- you don't sound a happy bunny!

Valmarg- we are more than happy to hear your views- both constructive or otherwise....Dave will be back working on it on Monday and he'll read everyone's comments and continue to tweek things about.

We all need to help him to make the site feel more user friendly by constructive comments.
I too am slowly finding my way around. We Mods have a harder job to find all our 'hidden' buttons too!!!!
We need to keep all comments on as few threads as possible to ensure they all get read- hence your new thread valmarg was merged with this one.

Please keep constructive comments coming in- what you don't like and why- and anything unusual you can see.
I'm sure the occasional positive comment would also be appreciated !!!!!

To be honest- I was really surprised how quickly Dave got the site up and running again and would prefer to have it back with it's 'problems' than not at all over the weekend.

So folks- please continue to help Dave ( and us) by pointing out any problems you come across...and do be patient...it's very much appreciated !!!!!!

              Many thanks

There's a link posted by Dave somewhere on the Upgrade Bugs thread to a log-in page where you should be able to tick the 'keep me logged-in' box...

                      1. As you see, this thread has plenty of criticism in it. That's why your many posts have been moved here. With a thread redirect so that you could find them.

                      2. If you look at the bones of the site, it is very similar to it's former self. All the boards are all still in the same place. The main differences are down to slightly different names for things along the top row, and some slight changes to the graphics which Dave is still in the process of 'tweaking'. There is certainly no need to bring violence into the equation.

                      3. The people who use the site are still the same people who used it before. They are very friendly. If you can't find something like a link you used to use often, why not ask? We're all finding our way around and helping each other out as we do. Try it, you might LIKE IT...

a - It's called merging - as explained above. See post number 63, and the redirected posts left for you.

b - If we shot everyone who developed website and forums - then no further development or tweaking could occur. Thus you would be left with inefficient websites and forums. I'd rather the Vine came back early and got good feedback from users than stayed off for another few days being tweaked behind the scenes.

c - It's evident from Dave's announcement and request for bugs that he wants to know what's wrong so that it can be fixed. Everyone else found it, grumbled and posted issues; why do you feel the need to be abusive?

Obviously, you haven't noticed that it's the weekend, and there will be no one in the GYO offices until Monday at the earliest. Also, a Thread was created ASKING for peoples' comments, so it's not a case that no one cares...

Personally, I don't find it that different - outwardly, it's really only a matter of a slight change in colour and a tweak of the icons. Most of 'The Vine' as we know and love it, is very similar to how it was before the upgrade. I really can see no reason to get so upset about it, Hon.

if Dave had spent a bit more time on the site, and brought it back a day later like it was supposed to be, we wouldn't have had it back early, with all it's faults.
Tweak as you go is a bit better than no fourm at all, yes?

It would probably help IT if you could quantify that rather than making all encompassing generalizations bud

Possibly it would be better received if it was constructive rather than abusive,as far as I can see issues are being addressed, but some will inevitably take longer than others

Totally agree Taff. I know that anything I have mentioned (except the anaemic smileys) has been dealt with and quite quickly so full marks to the guys behind the scenes.
