There is a strange little glitch on a few posts - which repeats the last word on the first line as the first word on the second line - unless lots of people are starting to type the same word twice twiceWhooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I'm used to all the changes but one, and it is still a bit irritating so I thought I'd see what could be done by posting here! Thanks to all the team who went through the upgrade process - not easy keeping us all happy!
When I press 'new posts' and the list of threads comes up, there used to be a 'you replied to this' little arrow on the orange icon on the left hand side' - and this doesn't appear now. It does appear if you click on the thread, and press 'new posts' again, OR if you look at the list of threads from the main menu of topics.
I found this really useful so I could see at a glance if someone had put a new post up onto a thread that I posted to - maybe some while ago - and then I'm interested to go back to see how the discussion has progressed.
I don't want to subscribe to every thread I reply to, and the Vine is so huge I can't click on each thread with a new posting since I was last here on the off chance that ages ago I had something to say on the subject.
Any clues? Surely I'm not the only one who has noticed this, or does everyone else navigate round the Vine differently to me?Last edited by Hazel at the Hill; 18-04-2011, 08:51 AM.

If you hover the mouse over the icons on the left, it should say 'you have x posts in this thread' if you've posted in it? On those orange icons, there are very small symbols on them too, that I haven't taken much notice of, but one of them might apply to threads you've posted in?

You can change the default subscription mode in your Settings - this will be applied to any replies you make (unless you explicitly set it differently whilst making the reply, using "Go Advanced")

Then the icon will take you to the first unread message in that thread (its not exactly that ... if you let your session lapse, by not doing anything on the site for 20 minutes or so, then that gets reset, so it then takes you to the first messages after the start of the previous session - vBulletin has always done that, which I find annoying, it would be better it remembered where you had read to in each thread as other forum software does)

Ah, I was going to say that too Kristen but would have just bumbled along with words rather than very efficient diagrams
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Why do my images get mauled when I upload them?
That image above is less than 40K and has been shrunk in both dimensions and size to something now very hard to read. I could understand if I'd uploaded a mega-sized image ...K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden

However, I think that the green tick is for subscribed threads - I've had look through a load of the different forum categories and I haven't any green ticks (or any subscriptions) but I've replied to plenty of threads.
The 'you've replied to this thread' arrow appears on the orange icon on the left - if I browse the vine by forum category, I have my 'replied' arrows in place, but not if I use the 'what's new button'. If I click on a thread, then press 'what's new' again, the thread title that I've just read goes non-bold, and the orange flame/page icon on the left turns green - and has the 'you've replied to this thread' arrow in place (assuming I have replied to the thread!)
The 'you've replied' arrows were useful on the 'what's new' list of threads, but I can live with hovering the mouse instead.

Change your default subscription option then perhaps - so you will be subscribed to any threads you (form now on) reply to?
That will mean you get an email alert though - although seems that you can set that to weekly, which may be "ignorable"?
