I do wish people would quit whingeing, how many of the boards do people ever look at anyway? I'll bet 90% of the threads are between Vegging Out and Chat! It's really not such a trial to scroll up and click the board title instead of New Posts. And if you want to see if anyone has replied to your thread/post, just click on 'Settings' instead!

Everyone's talking like Admin are just sat there twiddling their thumbs - they AREN'T! Dave is working his socks off trying to sort this out, whilst Paul has all Aceville's other websites to look after. I can assure you that they want this sorted as much as we do, albeit for commercial reasons.

As for us, well, we're struggling too. As you probably noticed, we lost 2 of our team just recently Scarey and Incy have been thrown in the deep-end, but they're doing a fab job. Nicos is trying to organise a wedding and I'm not well and trying to finish an OU course. PW is working silly amounts of hours and Seahorse has had a computer disaster. But, we're getting on with it as best we can, and a bit of support would be nice instead of everyone deserting a sinking ship, and chewing our ears off while they do it
Sarz, you know we all adore and appreciate everything you all do for us.

Dave must be tearing his hair out over this, and I really feel for him, and you Mods do a phenominal amount of work for no reward - believe me when I say that the Vine wouldn't be half the place it is, if it wasn't for the huge effort you all put in. I'm really sorry if you are all bearing the brunt of things at the moment, it must feel like the world is against you. But we're not, honest

    • Some folk are never satisfied. Well done Sarz for saying it like it is, it's time someone did. My tongue is bleeding heavily from where I've been biting it for the last week or so.

      • I know it's hard but I think we all need to take our time and just try and hang in there until this is all sorted out. Nothing can be gained by being cross about it. As Sarz says, everyone is doing their best to keep this ship afloat and, hopefully, in a couple of weeks it will all be sorted out and we'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

          • To be perfectly honest, the Forum is still usable - it's just a bit more like when you were learning how to use the Poota in the first place, in that it takes a bit longer to get there, but it's still there, it just takes a little more effort.

No complaining from me - Dave for MOM, I say!

Yup, you can do a prefix on searches:

              site: growfruitandveg.co.uk/grapevine <your search terms here>
and it'll only search the vine.. or sub that for any site you want and google will only search that site if it has been indexed.

              • Who is moaning? I love this forum and can still use it well. TBH I haven't even used the new posts thingy or search very much as I am still very much finding my way around. We are lucky to have such an open minded and friendly forum. Just my opinion!

                  • To be honest I was very disappointed when I logged on this lunchtime to find that the new post thing didn't work as I'd been thrown off yesterday when the site went off line and I'd hoped it would all be sorted. However, having read the glitch update it's clear the problem was beyond anybody's control so there's not point getting stressed. I'm probably missing loads of stuff and I get the impression that discussions are going on on some of the chatty threads that I don't read but life is too short to worry. I think the general post count is down at the moment but such is life, will pop in now and then while there are problems but am sure it'll be back to normal soon and things will be much easier

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                    • Any news on when the upgrade might be happening? I'm not moaning or complaining, just curious. There isn't a "grovel" button, but if there was I would probably have used it.

                        • Thanks for that update Chris. It's pretty frustrating not knowing what is happening and when it is to happen.

Shame there isn't a really really like button for this post. The idea of a grovel button tickled me.

                            • .. quick update - to keep it non technical, when the website(s) & forum(s) are moved over to the new server there is going to be some downtime. Dave is trying to figure out a way to keep it to a minimum, and as it's a short week is having a think about the best way to approach is so the site is online over the weekend.

Unfortunately it's not a matter of just moving the site and forum over to the new server - the domain name (website address - growfuitandveg.co.uk) has to be pointed over to the new server, which whilst only takes a matter of minutes to do, for the effect to propogate throughout the internet and down to each of us can take a while, due to the way how "things" work via the internet. Some users may see the change instantly, where as others it could take as long as up to a week in some cases. As you can appreciate, it's a tough discision to make - and I guess (just personally speaking here) a hard one to make as the balance between the business and community side of things would need to be maintained!

I believe Dave is going to have a good think about it, addressing each scenario and then decide what will happen later.
