There is a Gardeners World special on tonight on BBC 2 at 8pm about Britains fruit heritage. It should be worth watching.

Here in Wales we never get Gardeners World. I kid you not. We get three hours of "Scrum V". Thank goodness for digital. It means I can tune into BBC Scotland or Ireland to watch GW and leave all the other rugby fanatics to play with their miss shaped balls.

I'm sorry to say that here is Wales our program schedules are at the mercy of die-hard rugby fans. We get all the rugby programs that the rest of the UK gets but we also get extras. To watch "Tales from the Green Valley and Christine's garden" I have also had to tune into BBC Scotland or England.
The thing that really bugs me is that they say we are getting special programming because we live in Wales. The program "Tales from the Green Valley was filmed in Wales but we still never got it. If the BBC were broadcasting in Welsh then I would not complain. Another reason I would not complain is if we were losing all the gardening programs to other subjects believed to be of Welsh interest as we do at other times in the week but it is alway Rugby.

Managed to watch most of what she was doing..(that coat again!!!) and found it very interesting. I admit that I have been wary of fruit growing in the past , and it's only now that we have a lot more spare room on the allotment that I'm happy to give it a try. I think I've been put off by not having the first idea about pruning. No doubt I shall get it wrong a few times , but what the heck,it's all a learning process eh?"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

I enjoyed the program and feel encouraged to try growing more fruit.
Next summer I hope to see new fruit trees nicely established in my small garden. I am currently waiting on delivery of 1 Family Apple tree, 1Family Pear tree, 1 Dual Plum and 1 Dual Cherry.
After watching the program and seeing how easy it is to make Jam I went and ordered the two Dual trees.

Maybe next time they could combine the olympics with gardeners world? It would be fun to watch Sarah Raven and that coat on a luge: "We only grow 10% of our fruit and many people find it hard to prune at 110mph".Best wishes
