A bloody week!!!! Seriously!!

They have agreed to take alll my garden regalia (including seedlings, plugs, planters) However it will take them A WEEK to get them from Ipswich to Belfast!!

What state are they gonna be in after a week in the dark?? Should I just give up now??

I think Jackie's right Victoria, if you can't take them with you, you're going to seriously have to consider leaving them behind. I doubt they'd survive a week.

Oh no!!! I will try and talk hubby round into allowing me to take some stuff in the car but bear in mind that I will also have in the car;

A german Shepherd, 2 Cats and a cat box, A litter box, sleeping bags, roll mats and 2 holdalls of clothes...

THATS IT!!!! I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!!! We will survive! I vow that me and all my root trainers and plugs will struggle through!! x

Offer the comapany to take a shepherd and cats?Maybe that would speed them up?Honestly,Vic,there's still plenty of time to get sowing and you don't know how your plants will be handled by these people(doubt they'll treat them the same as you would).You might get the truck a week later with seedlings all over the place and nice compost heap in the middle.

What about a courier, or a man with a van?

I guess it all depends on how desperately you want to keep the plants alive, and how much it will cost to replace them when you get there. If the latter is greater than the cost of transport, then courier them.

Seriously, I just 'Googled' it, and the journey should take less than 12 hours, if there are no hold-ups on the roads. Add to this, the Ferry crossing, and drivers' rest breaks, and they should still be there in a day or two at the most!

I would try another company. Good luck with it - I'd be stressed too!

43 years ago a friend purchased a delapidated mansion house in county Donegal with a view to turning it into an hotel.

He had already bought 4 pantechnicon loads of furniture to take with him. There were 3 of us, we loaded at Buxton Derby's, travelled overnight to Stranraer in Scotland, early morning ferry to Larne, drive down over the boarder to Letterkenny, unload and in the pub by tea time. (With apologies to our Irish friends for my spelling).

Are you sure their not using a container to move you? For it would seem an awful long time to have a loaded lorry hanging about.

Thats out of order Vicky . I used to regularly run down to Emswell - if I remember it was about 20 miles from Ipswich . The journey used to be done inside 12 hours and that included 2 and a half hours on a boat . 2 half decent drivers should be able to leave Ipswich at 7 in the evening and be in Stranraer or Cairnryan for the 07.30 sailing the next morning . You could also use the Birkenhead to Belfast boat which is a 12 hour overnight sailing to Belfast .
Tell your removal company to get their finger out.

Stranraer or Cairnryan to the new services at Wetherby 165 miles= 4 and a half hours driving.
Wetherby to Ipswich roughly 165 miles - another 4 and a half hours driving.

Rent the van ,pay my flight out and I'll drive it to Belfast for you 18 hours door to door guaranteed .

Following on from what Beefy says, you can drive/rent a 7 tonner on a normal drivers licence which is basically a small truck (big enough for a couple of elephants let alone cats, dogs and a garden)
