Just got back from the wedding prezzie dig. Even the showers didn't dampen the enthusiasm and as I left the plants were going in the freshly dug beds. Great idea Mrs D. and good to get to know other grapes face to face.
What else can you do on a Saturday afternoon when it's too wet to go to your own plot and do a bit of light weedinf and hoeing?
Now for a bath!Digger-07

WoW guys, we now have an allottment! it even has plants! Its the best wedding pressie in the world ever!!!!
Digger here isnt a man as we all thought, he's a machine! I've never seen digging Like it! (bob wants to be digger when he grows up, not only can he dig but his elder wine puts bobs to shame and as for his foccacia bread, to die for!)
Sarah and padfoot were fantastic, and we now have some cabage plants in our nice fresh beds, it was Fab to meet them both.
and the dobbys were great as ever, Mrs D has lots of pics for you all, and we learnt lots, it would have taken bob and I months to get it looking that good, it was really nice to meet people and put faces to names, it really is the best wedding pressie, we had a great time.
HUGE THANKYOU to everyone, very impressed with what we achieved.
espeically due to the rain and very heavy clay.
thankyou thankyou thankyou.

Whos plots next then?Yo an' Bob

Mnay thanks to all those who came and helped with Yo and Bob's wedding prezzie, the day was a great success!
Weather wise the forecast was terrible, but apart from some medium rain and a bit of drizzle it wasnt too bad at all!
Sarah and Padfoot were the first to arrive, just beating us, closely followed by Dave not long after, and with Yo and Bob themselves that was the team for the day!
Fortuunately Yo and Bob had strimmed all the long grass before we all arrived, so after Yo started to mark out the beds we all started digging! Half way thu at about 3pm we stopped for some lunch, a lovely spread cooked on the barbecue by Yo, and then we resumed digging, with the rain having abated! A total of 8 beds were marked out and dug over, with a fairly thorough removal of any weeds being done at the same time. After the diggin was done Yo planted out some brassicas that Sarah had brought and some pumpkins we'd brought for her, so 3 of her 10 beds now have growing crops in them!
Huge thanks to both Sarah (a very hard worker indeed) and Dave (what a Digger, I've never seen anything like it!) for their tremendous hard work, for working in the wet and rainy conditions and for never complaining once! You both deserve awards for the help you've given to total strangers, and I have to say embody the best sentiments and helpful nature of the typical 'Grape' from the GYO Grapevine!
Many thanks also to Yo and Bob for being such wonderful hosts, for providing a lovely spread, and allowing us all to make such a mess of your kitchen floor with our muddy wellies!
Overall I'd say it was a fun and fulfilling day, especially when you can see what the whole team acchieved in what was relatively a short time!
Piccies will be following later on, I've got to downsize them for the forum, tho I have had a problem with the camera, so although I took a total of 39 piccies I'm afraid less than half are actually usable, sorry!Blessings

A few quick piccies, the first 3 are the results of the day, the fourth is Dave, Sarah and Rachel, the last is Yo, Robin and a particularly bad one of me! Hope you enjoy them!
I'll try and salvage some of the other piccies, but my camera seems to have been playing up and they are a bit corrupted file wise, but if I can get any to a visible state, then I'll post them! Otherwise, if anyne else has picciews (Sarah?) then please post em and let us all see!Blessings

Yo & Bob, you're more than welcome - much preferred doing that than the pile of washing I had at home! Great food too
It was great to meet the others, Lee & Suzanne are lovely people, and Miss D is a well-mannered, helpful young lady, a credit to herself! Digger07 (Dave) definately has the right user-name, and not only does he dig well, he's a reet nice bloke too
Anyway, I took a few photos too, so here they are;

(Oh, and a sneaky one of Pads, guarding the weed pile?!)
