Your dentist I'm sure has told you that smoking causes receeding gums. Personal experience; had two healthy teeth extracted last year due to receeding gums. 25 years of smoking direct cause!
Gave up using the Alan Carr method (Many thanks Jax)
Next time you light a fag just think of yourself as a toothless old hag. Remember it is the habit you are addicted to not the nicotine.
Best of luck and keep thinking about your perlies.

F&V - my teeth got 'cleaner' after giving up smoking. I also bought one of those Ultrasonex toothbrushes, it really does clean your teeth up well, so it might keep your pearlies whiter longer? Good luck!

yeah, I'm going down the vanity route this time!!
        so smoking gives you:
wrinkles. a mouth like a cat's bottom. yellow teeth. receding gums. grey skin.
        anything else?

You smell - very noticeable on smokers by non-smokers!

...and a real positive you can really smell other things - I can smell different kinds of wood smoke on our fire! My sense of taste and smell are very acute now.

Well, I can come out of the potting shed now (gardening equiv of closset) As of the night of the Budget, I've not touched one of the little blighters.

You should have another go F&VV as after 3 days I could have posed for one of LJ's websites for a ciggie, but I can honestly say I've got into the habit of not smoking now.

To be fair I only smoked about 10 or so at night any way, but it still comes to about £100 per month or 2 greenhouses a year !!!

I can even start to see my feet now cos I can do excersise without gasping!!!

The first week was a killer as I said day 3 I was going up the wall! I could never do hard drugs if this is what fags is like !!

The biggest thing is you've got to want to quit I think. The extra 9p was the final straw. I just thought I've given enought to this robbing scottish son of a milkman ( no offence to our fellow growers north o'the border) & that was it. My Wife still smoke so I have the extra insentive that I can claim the moral high ground

Just remember, if the good Lord had meant you to smoke, He would have fitted a chimmney in your head

pmsl at chimney in my head!!! yup, this is MY time, I can tell. I may have no fingernails (saves getting black out from under em after gardening though), but I'll be fragrant and have pearly white gnashers!
