I've done the Moderating thing several times over the past few years and have been the concierge for several Rootsweb research fora.

wouldn't go back to doing it now if I WERE paid, Modding for a company can be a nightmare especially if the Mods don't feel that they're properly supported.

And to be honest, surely the majority of us would rather be gardening than sitting in front of a computer?

Yep I would have to agree with TonyF,Mod's should be supported by Admin as they are the buffer that members see on a regular basis.
I have been both Mod & Admin on other forums (vehicle based(still mod on one)) neither position is that good if you have (& express) a personal opinion,as all to often members on a contrary stance deem it to be the official viewpoint,which can lead to friction & bad feelings (been there,had that).

On the other hand, if GYO didn't host this lovely forum, we'd have to pay the bills ourselves and I don't seem to have any servers lying around doing nowt, or the money to pay for vBulletin software...

Thanks to everyone who volunteered- those who were not offered the post may well be selected at a future date....we had loads of peeps to choose from

We hope you'll be thrilled with our final selection.
Availability/gardening knowledge/IT skills/previous contributions etc etc were taken into account.
