I'd love to go canal boating for a whole weekend...can't think it would be that relaxing with a seven and eight year old though so may need to put it on hold for a few years.

First went canal boating when my son was just over a year old. As I don't do stress I had to think of something to make sure the rascal stayed safe.

He had his life jacket on 24/7, well it only came off when he was in bed. But when we were locking through or on a river section I had him tied to a rope fixed centrally in the boat and just long enough for him to reach the front and rear decks. Glad to report he never fell in once.

However on the way home we called at a friends house where he managed to fall into a garden pond. No damage just wet.

Well, started off driving down to Devon on Good Friday. Spent the week centred around Beer (gorgeous place) with the family Wayne, b-i-l and his family. Went to donkey sanctuary, did some walking, had crab sandwiches, cooked a live lobster (after freezing him), went to an adventure park, drank some beer, built sandcastles on the beach, did some swimming in a freezing cold sea, went mackerel fishing, filleted mackerel, did some walking, had fish and chips, cooked seafood linguine, drank some beer, played in a stream, ate some ice cream.

Then drove home whilst the wedding was on.

Unloaded, did some washing, painted a shed. Painted another shed. Painted a bin cupboard. Painted three replacement fence posts. Watered some plants. Weeded.

        Washed the car.

        Went shopping.

Went for a 3 hour bike ride.

Had a barbecue with some friends.

        Visited family.

        Had family visit us.

        Nothing much.

Oh, and we went on a tram ride.

Finished painting the bloomin hall, landing and stairs, it looks luverly! Caught up with friends, baked very naughty cup cakes and ate them with friends. Went with hubbie to pick up his new mini cooper, persuaded him to let me drive his mini cooper totally fab! Cleaned the house so it is sparkling. Watered my new lawn I laid, first time every, looked at my new lawn lots!! Caught up on some school work and just generally had a lovely time. :-)
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

            Great 4 days off:
Spent most of Friday digging at the lottie and planting some leek seedlings. Friday night was my private view in pompey - great fun, lovely to see some people who I have not seen since I left uni and new people, everyone complimentory about my work.
Saturday went to town, had lunch at my favourite cafe (which is vegan) my daughter spent her birthday money and I actually bought myself a brand new (yes really, not from a charity shop) pair of trousers AND top!!
Sunday spent potting up my pumpkins and courgettes, planting out my french beans and lettuces.
Monday I photographed at Environmental Rock in southampton great fun, met some passionate & inspiring people, had a caribean bbq, had a couple of glasses of good cider and listened to some excellent music.....
all in all a wonderful 4 days off!

On duty at our sailing club, we had a 'try a sail' day. gusty wind or what....... but worse than that - it switched direction in a blink.
All credit to our helms they were fantastic and fearless!
I was inside running the desk!
Sun was out water was blue and we were soooo busy - everyone had a great time!
A huge big thanks to all helpers, safety boat crews, catering and staff at the club from me!

We had 12 days off. Got loads done in the garden and raised beds, put up the polytunnel, tidied the garage, got chickens, moved the coop 3 times to make sure it was in the right place, got my flower beds weeded and planted. Went to Jekka's herb farms and got some herbs, went to a few car boot sales and got some bargins for the garden, went to a street party and got food poisoning.
