Ice!!!!

Yes.....remember that word from way back in the winter, well I had to remove ICE from my birds water bowl this morning!!!! and

3.1 deg in my unheated greenhouse, which contains some very cold and flowering tomato plants, aubergines and chilli or 'chilly' peppers....aint mother nature great

I had to 'unfleece' everything before going to work as the day time temps will be about 16deg and sunny! so my greenhouse plants will roast or slow cook during the day!!! and whats more - we are on a badger watch tonight, my plants wont get covered up again (another cold night with possible frost ahead) until well after the temperature has dropped very low.

I know the the weather is 'un seasonal' but my plants don't seem to and have grown like crazy - a sight to behold!

Have left fleece on rows of allotment potatoes for the day - hope this wont hurt them in any way?

Its all very stressful - I need hot sweet tea...runs off to find mug......

ps dont mention RAPE !!!! and bees.....runs off to find large bucket for above hot sweet tea

it was 'only' -1.7 in my greenhouse. Mind you, nothing was in it except a big tub of potatoes, wrapped in bubble wrap last night. It was -3.5 outside and the allotment spuds, even fleeced up, look a little limp this morning.

I know I always sound like that old chap from Dad's Army (we're doomed!) but I am only sowing my runners today. It's never worth the losses with toms, chillies, climbing beans and courgettes and the like.

I'm plannign on sowing/chitting my beans this week too.. wasn't sure if I've left it a bit late!

There was a suggestion of frost on the ground where we walked the dogs this morning, but no sign in our garden. Early spuds are well up, beans about 6" high (planted out at weekend), courgettes and pumkins are outside (must fleece those tonight). Toms and chillies will have to go out on the 13th regardless, because I can do an automatic watering outside, but not in the house, and our only greenhouse is the windowsill! Maybe I should stick to fleecing everything?

It got my potatoes ...... and they were under fleece!!!! grrrrr we tucked them up so well too- double grrrrr.
It must have got really cold!
Not sure if they will ever recover....brown is the colour!!!
