OOPS I've had another lapse, I went into Wyevale to get a packet of calabrese when I spotted a packet of nastusiums that where free when you bought two packets of seeds so I ended up buying another packet of squash seeds, afraid it is very difficult to be strong when the temptation is that much.

The internet has a lot to answer for also - doesn't feel like you're actually spending money either.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I was a total innocent until I joined the Vine, here I found people recommending seeds and varieties, new companies adding links to posts, MORE PLACES TO BUY SEEDS FROM
Then someone recommends something and I just have to give it a go.
Mind you haven't bought a packet of seeds for at least errh - 2 weeks now.

I also try not to go to the Farmer's Market very often, there are three plant suppliers there, and that's even worse and more expensive.

            Am I reformed?

I went to Wyevale GC tonight and DIDN'T BUY anything! Even better, I had a voucher for a pack of free water retaining granules - so I win!

MY downfall is Wilko - they may not have the diversity of varieties, but - hey - I'm a newbie, any varieties good! And the seed packs are so CHEAP and its buy one get one free.

            I don't stand a chance.

As no one has contacted me for my address I can only conclude that its a lost cause trying to help .
Buy one get one free only works If you were going to buy in the first place. Shame on you Hazel I expected more from you.

Alison - Send me the money - it wont seem like you have sent it.

Headfry - you think we are your friends ? We want your seeds .

DDL -most people here sleep in the greenhouse to be near thier friends.

Eden - you work in a garden centre . You just became everyones special friend.

Jennie A - at least Spain, Spanish and Shetland all start with S so you are starting to get some sort of order in your life . Keep it up I think your showing more promise than some.

stigoftheplot- you think you dont have a problem ? Ohh really?
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

Plum has the perfect reply when he sees me near seeds/plants 'Where are you going to put it'. Do I listen, what do you think? The bisquit tin has now multiplied to include 2 ice cream tubs an another bisquit tin and thats only for the fancies the bog standard veggies are his domain but he is stronger willed than me!!!! After reading this I can not admit that I also have a problem, BUT I am not the only one.

OH doesn't know about it! I hide the seeds under the 2nd bedroom bed and sneek 1 packet into the seed (old chocolate tin) tin each week and hope he don't know.

The reason they are in an old chocolate tin is just incase there is a house fire and I don't want then to get burnt (the photo's and important documents like passport and birth certs are left in and old plastic bag - who cares about them!!!!!!!)

The worth thing I do is when I get a new packet of seeds is I empty it out and count the seeds to see if I have in there what the adverage is so that I don't miss out on any sigle 1 seed.

I might take OH to the pub tonight and sit him down for the bad news that I am a Seed - a - holic!!!!!!!!!!

I have been in denial but now I will be strong. Not strong enough to give up of course, but strong enough to admit my failing. I accompanied my son-in-law and grand daughter to a garden centre today as he wanted to buy some plants for tubs for their courtyard garden. While there I perused the seeds just in case. I bought purple sprouting broccoli (because this year I WILL protect them from the butterflies), some curly kale (because this year I WILL have something available in the winter to accompany my leeks), and parsnips (I DON'T EVEN BL***Y LIKE PARSNIPS!) to try out growing them in loo roll middles.

As a distraction I bought my OH a fern (cyrtomium) to which he is excessively partial. I shall insert the seeds sneakily into the seed box and present the fern ostentatiously. And I still think he won't guess. (Still in denial?)

Tins? Do you not find they are just not big enough? I got my OH to make me a very LARGE wooden seed box, split into six compartments, with a nice carry handle.

Hmmm .... its still not big enought I'm afraid.

Have been laying hints to OH about a custom made box split into sections for months but he isn't biting - think he realises that I'll get him to make it huge and then feel justified to buy more seeds to fill it!
