Um.... I visited B&Q enroute home tonight.....bought five packets of poppy seeds and five packets of nastursum (?) seeds. I also got 6 tomato plants for 50p - at least five will survive.

Like you DDL I've moved from the seeds to the plants. Bought a ton of lobellia's yesterday (do I need that many?) and today eight Gardners Delight toms. Why?? I've got loads of seeds.

Unfortunately I have to walk past the shop every day ...

I was on a garden place today and on spec, had a count up ......

There were over 60 types of pea and bean seeds on sale, now how can I be expected to resist all of them - I did tho, have so many already I need to take a list with me to make sure I don't duplicate buy!

I was thinking I was doing well, managed to get through B&Q without even looking at the seeds then remembered I bought cellery plants at garden centre. Oh well, tomorows another day.

Was doing so well, hadn't bought any for over a week and then I went to the garden center for some more compost and had to go past the seed section on the way to the tills - remembered that I hadn't got any nasturtiums so had to buy some of them and then thought some more sweet peas would be nice too. Having said that, did manage to put the squash seeds back that I was looking at - remembered how many I have already so maybe all is not lost...................

I'm growing seeds that I bought in spain and France. Tomatoes onions cucumbers and peppers. No matter where I go I bring back seeds. If i don't find a seed shop or garden centre on holidays I get withdrawl symptoms.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.

Glad to read of someone bringing seeds back from abroad Bramble. I am planting basil, parsley and salad leaves bought in Italy last year. A friend told me I shouldn't bring seeds from abroad so I have been expecting the 'foreign seed police squad' to visit!!

I was doing so well until we went to the market yesterday. The plant seller had some feverfew seed - oh good thought I. Then noticed they were being sold at 2 for £1 so bought some AT Nigella too. And I'd resisted all the mags and the stand in Wilko's and even the plants.

Summer there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't buy plants in Europe and take them back to the UK.

Happens all the time as does taking plants back and forth - nothing to stop you within the EU unless it's a prohibited item.

When we were in Italy in the Autumn, we bought a packet of tomato seeds!
Thought we'd try a large Italian variety....when we came to sow them , we saw in tiny Italian writing -(well tiny for my fading eyesight!) - that they were typical beef tomatoes!!!
Oh well- never grown them before....

Mr Flum often takes groups of Geography students to Tenerife (see if they can find their way back - har har!) and he bought me a lovely pale courgette one year (seeds that is). He also bought lettuce but they were just --- well, lettuce.

My Pomadoro's from Crete have come up!!! I'll have to trade some for the wonderful varieties that PW gave us the other week.....
I fear that like the Dobbies we will be self sufficient in tomatoes this year if all goes well.

The Butternut Squash I planted have suddenly spring to life today too - little darlings were only peeping through this morning, then I put them out in the sunshine and they've gone 'boing', thrown their winter jackets off and are shaking their leaves!!!
I've brought them indoors for the night though - too young to be out on the razzle
