Snot fair

Been working really hard recently and only have today off before going back and I'm laid up in bed with a blooming head cold.
Was really looking forward to getting out into the garden.
Now all I can do is lie and think of all the things that need done that aren't!

For a bit of fun.... Any good cold remedies.. Old wives tales?
Anyone in Glasgow good with a shovel?!

honey, lemon and ginger and a shot of whisky

but i take vitamin c and zinc when i feel a cold coming on, i feel it keeps it at bay but can't always stop it from setting in - and once you have a cold, theres no gettng rid of it. i dont bother with over the counter medicine as it doesnt do anything anyway

One of my facebook pals suggests tequila as the agave plant has medicinal values.
To be fair almost all of the 'remedies' to a cold you hear about involve alcohol in some way.

Hi Paul.....me too - I have horrid head cold thing! feel awful today.....Nooooooooo I want to go out and play at the weekend.
2 panadols + 2 Ibru its worked on my head, but still feel rough though - what is it with the hot and cold bit?

I try to avoid symptom-suppressing medication (e.g things like paracetamol to bring temp down) because I reckon they actually slow it down. Spend as much time as possible horizontal, and keep really warm, but drink plenty (which will limit the option for staying horizontal....). The high temperature is the system fighting the infection, so I encourage it for as long as I feel lousy. If I have to keep going, I take paracetamol or equivalent by day, but avoid the stuff at night and try to sweat it out.
Works for me, but won't suit everyone.
