Inspired by Wisley visit!

Had a lovely day at Wisley yesterday with Mum and her friend and have come back all inspired not just by the lovely fruit tree garden ( it's amazing how they've trained the fruit trees ) but the iris. I love the bearded iris and have realised they are not thriving in my garden 'cos I've crammed them in with everything else! So, todays mission is to find space for them on their own where they don't have to fight. Not sure where this is going to be yet, everythings just going to have to breath in a bit!!
Anyone else bought back inspiring ideas from anywhere?

I have to agree with you L.G. After my visit last year I was buzzing with ideas what to do, grow in the garden. I'm visiting again with Jeanied in June. I can't wait to see what other ideas I can modify for my little garden. I loved the carved wooden seat nestled in the box hedging (Buxus sempervirens), but alas I haven't room for it...and sticking it under mi jumper wasn't an option .

Ooooh, I didn't see that! Definitely no room for box hedging. I think Wisley is a lovely place and there's so much to see. Don't get me started on the Alpine house. Oh to have the space and money for specimen plants diplayed in a beautiful greenhouse, we spent a long time in there looking at the weird and wonderful stuff.

I too love Wisley. We try to go 4 or more times a year - at least each season!
Hot summers day - laying under the apple trees in the orchard - pure bliss! perhaps not what most would expect to be their favorite thing to do at Wisley, but a Headfry is a strange creature!
I love the veg plot too - did you meet the cat? - what a sweetie. Sonny I think he is called.
Hangs out round Alpine house and veg plot.

Yes we saw the cat. Made us laugh as he was curled up on a plant on gravel bed, no intention of moving. We loved the sign on the door of the Alpine House asking everyone to keep him out. Those plants are special in there!

Remember with your Irises that the tuber likes to bake in the sun, its how they build their energy for the following years flowers. I split mine the other year as the centre was tired and woody and ended up with 20+ plants. Well worth it as the show this year has been amazing!

I loved the alpine house. I have lot's of photos of the little plants...thought the miniature hosta was brilliant, but I'd be hard pushed to pick a favorite.

The kitty never lifted his head when I want to stoke him, I don't thinks he thought I was worth the effort...well it was nice a sunny .

Carol the carrot and I were there last Sunday. We didn't see the kitty this time - but we were fascinated by lots of things - a lot of them very expensive in the Wisley shop!
Ideas - well the vertical stone slabs arranged in a wave pattern and planted with alpines really took our eye - and the lad who created it was there - a Scot who really knew his stuff!
We loved the black garden ideas - food for thought.
The red lettuce bed was spectacular.
And the rest is a secret because we had such fun and so many ideas we want to try them out for ourselves ...
