Windy here yesterday and today. The chickens' bum feathers are being blown up in the run - I daren't let them free range, I'll be picking them out of the guttering!

I find it amusing watching my chickens being blown all over the shop. Rather than find shelter (I even built them a little "bus stop" type thing, then just get blown all over the shop, return to said windy position and get blown back again. This, is literally all day - until they want to lay/eat, then they'll go and do that then come back and get blasted again.

Even in the run, I've put some branches in for them to climb over etc - the highest one is windy (chose it for that reason - I hang greens from above it - so it keeps them entertained/working for greens etc) - they go on there, get blown off, repeat, then go back outside, and get blasted around the garden.

Bet their botties are cold though - you can see right up their skirts!

Very windy and wet here, yesterday there were warnings on motorway boards that the wind would be very high today, never seen that before.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

This wind is insane. My chooks are all hiding in the bike shed and my greenhouses look like they're about to take off at any minute. I can't believe that the guy ropes are still holding them down. I swear the plastic covering has stretched though as it's looking looser than it used to. I really really hope it calms down soon. This is bonkers! The heavens just opened as well and now it's bucketing it down. I am sooooooo glad I decided against cycling in to the office today. Feel so sorry for DH who's going to have to cycle home in this!

It's blowing a gale here. Have said a bye-bye to my winterkefe peas when a fence landed on them (and no I'm not joking). Greenhouse is okay but my tomato houses look rather iffy because the fence they are screwed onto is dancing (fence posts have snapped at the bottom). A neighbour has lost his blow away so I hope the OP is faring better. I think we've missed summer and went straight to Autumn gales Good news is I'm sitting in the warmth eating a vanilla oatie - yum yum

Oh no, shame about the peas, I hope the rest holds together for you.

My garden has proven to be quite sheltered from the SW winds we have today, but when gusts get through, it's being blown all over the place. And we only have winds up to 50 miles an hour , I feel really sorry for those of you that have more.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

OMG - I feel quite ill at the thought of all my pampered plants at home - I put them out for the first time yesterday! I can just see me going home to nothing but bits of stem! I thought it was blowy yesterday but this is AWFUL - still not as bad as most of the rest of you so If IM worried I dread to think about the rest of you! I just want to go home!

My staput is secured to the wall, so it's stayed put, but two of the side panels have blown in. It looks like the panels were bodged so I'll need to put some more mastic on it when it's dry, it's bucketing down at the moment. Luckily it's not damaged any of the plants in there, but I'm disappointed, I was whooping yesterday because I've got rid of the blowaways and now this!

The other irony is that a neighbour of mine has just bought a blowaway and it's stayed put!

It's stopped raining here and there's bright sunshine, but the wind is getting up again.
