I stand by my original statement. The BBC only issued an apology because of complaints from those who would love to tie this whole world up with political correctness. At least in this country we have freedom of speech!

They didn't only apologise after complaints, they apologised during the show, because he was so far out of order he might as well have been on another planet. The man is a friend of David Cameron though, so I fail to be surprised about his flaccid grasp on reality

Newton, this forum has had several political discussions a year since I first joined, and it has never prevented anyone from helping anyone else with any other problems they may have, gardening or otherwise. It seems a bit rich, however, for you to complain about these threads and want them closed, when you started one of them and participated quite vociferously in the others.

I would remind everyone else that they have freedom of choice - if you don't want people to argue with your views, don't start the thread, and if you don't like to see political discussion, don't read those threads

Ooh and for my two penn'orth, I read the political threads, but I don't comment because I have no desire to, unless it's to interrupt with something funny. There have been some very interesting discussions on here and I'm not aware that anyone fell out with anyone else, we all have too much in common, namely a love of growing things.
