    • Oh...and because someone couldn't be grown up about it and actually have the balls to tell me he was doing it,giving me the chance to set my own ones up not only am I short of £190 on the six monthly bill because the DDs weren't high enough but I've also lost the £100 bonus for paying by DD for 12 consequetive months extremely but also nearly ready to cry!

      • Ooooh a rant thread, just what I need...

Plot neighbours who think that picking my blackberries by the tub load on an almost daily basis is ok because they are not coming onto my plot to do it. When mentioned they hit you with the 'sharing' guilt stick.

Personally I think sharing and taking what you want, when you please are two different things.

I feel sooooooo much better now

            • 2 miles from home, 8 miles from A and E, the little one decides to fall over on the pavement and cut his hand open. Not my rant.

My rant is the selfish evil cow in the nearest shop who refused to hand over her first aid kit (I wasn't asking her to administer first aid, I just wanted a wipe & a plaster). She eventually threw one onto the counter and rudely asked that I "do that outside"

Here's a photo ... would you refuse to help? (I've checked the law: the HSE recommends that employers DO help the public with first aid, especially if they serve large numbers of the public, like shops do. And contrary to the urban myth, nobody has ever been sued for giving first aid) I'm still mad as hell about it

I'm still mad as hell the next morning ! It's just struck me that if she'd been in a shop that SOLD plasters she wouldn't have refused to give me them would she?

                    • Ggrrr....

My SIL is off to Greece for a week tomorrow with 'the girls'. Someone else is paying for her (one of OH's family), she is leaving her 2 small kids (4 and 3) to be looked after by several different family members and is basically going out on the p**s for a week.

Apparantly the reason she needs a holiday away from her kids is that she is very stressed and has a difficult life.

I'm so annoyed that this is the second year that someone in the family has paid for her to go away cos she is stressed. She absolutely cannot afford a foreign holiday, as she can barely afford clothes for the kids...

We haven't had a foreign holiday in 6 years (and the last one we did have, my mum paid for), I've got a husband who is working 12-15 hours a day, and is on the verge of a nervous breakdown; we're having money issues and OH's family have NEVER, EVER offered us anything in 13 years; never mind paying for 2 holidays!!!!

I can count on one hand the number of times OH's father has given/offered us even a £10 to go and have a drink, in 13 years...

Why is SIL so special and why are her problems so great that she gets all this... OH is annoyed and upset, and this whole thing just adds to his problems....

                      • The African drought ~ what to do?

While millions of east Africa's poorest people are starving in the drought, Kenya (as a for example) is still exporting millions of pounds of cash crops, including flowers (which take a huge amount of water to grow)

"Rising prices [as a result of the drought] may also bode well for Kenyan tea companies, including Sasini Ltd., whose shares have risen 63 percent in the past year, and George Williamson Ltd., up 54 percent. The combined market value of the two companies is about $55 million.
Shares of Eaagads Ltd., a Kenyan coffee producer, have almost tripled over the past year"

Kenya's had two years of drought, and it's good news for the rich tea & coffee exporters

They supply Nestle and Starbucks, amongst others.

What to do? I don't suppose a boycott of Kenyan goods would force the big companies to improve conditions for the poorest.

                          • If I wanted a job as a cleaner I would get one, if they didnt stop most of the cleaners hours we wouldnt need to clean. Just cos the big wigs are coming in a couple of days its clean up time. Bosses should see the place as the customers do, basically a s**t hole. The rain comes in the roof all the time, the toilets are disscusting both staff and customer, the dirt is unbelivable.
Good job no customers were near a shelf of wine when it collapsed. Nothing works properly and no one takes any notice of you when you report something doesnt work.
