Finally found a watch repairer willing to change the battery in my 93yo mum's talking watch with the confidence to try, the skill to do it, (it has an atomic time module that has to remain connected to some other gubbins inside while the old battery is removed), and the patience to reset all its various components and make sure everything works properly.

Going to Ryton, buying potato varieties I can't find anywhere else, buying my favourite copper/bronze tools and seed swapping for HSL varieties. What a blast!

Sat here, in front of a roaring fire right up the chimney back. Two dogs and four cats all asleep on the hearth-rug. Getting ready to watch an episode of Midsomer murders on the TV.

God's in his heaven and all is well with the world. I am happy. Been a fair few months since I was able to say that.

hahaha .......so Mr impatient , blasting me with your horn at the roundabout cos you thought I should've risked life and limb pulling out in front of a car, then undertaking me by using the bus lane got you where???? exactly one car in front all the way into town .......oh how I tittered to myself all the way home
