  • Hmmm - putain = flippin 'eck, must remember that!

What made me happy today - going into the Prefecture to try and get a French driving licence for the 5th, yes 5th time and actually having someone keep all the documents and arranging a medical for us. Still haven't got a licence and it will probably take another 5 visits but, hey, it's a step in the right direction

      • Oh happy day !

~ was able to go home at lunchtime: not needed due to end-of-term stuff
~ drove to the city on my own to mooch round
~ finished a new dress half an hour before I had to leave for my (girly) date in the city
~ first time ever parked in a multi-storey and managed to get out again too
~ got EIGHT new books from the city library (would have to wait weeks & pay pounds at my local for them)
~ got a brand new pair of comfy trendy sandals off eBay for a fiver in the post
~ postman had sense to leave said item on back step, not in the sorting office
~ found a box of mint Matchsticks while searching for something else in the useful drawer
        ~ Mr TS hoovered up
~ stayed up unbelievably late (for me) ... 11pm, posting my new dress in an online contest
~ went to bed with a new book, and a secret box of chockies
        ~ won't have a hangover tomorrow, cos I ain't drinked

              • The fact that our holiday in France is looming makes me happy. Ten days of family time, fun, a bit of sun and lots of good food and wine coupled with not having to worry about anything or indeed anyone spoiling anything!

                    • Having a lovely week off with Mr OWG - we haven't done anything special, or been anywhere new or interesting, but have just enjoyed each other's company and pottering round the house and garden

                        • A story in my local newspaper (Lochaber News) has made me smile. Davie Rodgers, a retained firefighter had just completed a run up Ben Nevis He heard of the plight of a family on Ben Nevis, their 5 year old, 40kg Golden Retriever, Jack had collapsed half way down the Ben and no one could get him down the rest of the way. Davie Rodgers ran back up the Ben, put Jack in a fire man's lift and carried Jack down. What a lovely compassionate act.
