The 'what makes you happy' thread - part 2

Spending a night in the company of friends, seeing their 2 young lads who speak no English playing with my 2 granddaughters who speak no French, and yet they all got on famously. We could learn a lot from these young types I think.
Also watching the dad of said 2 young lads playing snap or coems against my youngest granddaughter, and him playing badly enough to let her win. Made an old man very happy.

Having a run (joggy walk really) and my knee not complaining about it. First run for over a year and it wasn't too bad at all. I might even do it again.

Seeing a little Deer in the bottom of my garden for the first time when i was hanging the washing out - we've lived here over four years & despite knowing they were frequent visitors i'd never managed to see them before!

Reading and smoking a pipe, like last night.

Going on a bike ride on a lovely, hot summer's day in the country, with plenty of dosh for pub stops.

Trawling the second-hand bookshops in Charing Cross Road, and surveying my purchases over lunch and a pint or three in the 'Porcupine' afterwards.

Wandering around my veg. garden, admiring the successes and averting my eyes from the failures.

Enjoying tea, scones and fruit-bread in Redbournbury water-mill with other members of the local conservation volunteers after a day spent renovating the willow spiling by the riverbank, like yesterday.

Not having to push my bike two miles home in the rain afterwards, because I got a puncture.

Looking at the 28 jars of jam/jelly I made in the last 3 days. Need to put them away now or we'll never eat off the dining table again!

Being out in the garden between 6am and 8am and also 7pm until 9pm as its usually quiet and not so warm

Knowing that I don't have to fly off to some overcrowed, hot, noisy holiday destination, instead I can stay at home and garden.

What Mothhawk said, I love crisp cold Autumn days.

I'm happy because I just bottled 17 jars of Best Ever Chutney. Double-choc cookies about to go in the oven and THE HOUSE IS EMPTY !

I'm happy because yesterday hubby & I went for our 21 week scan at the hospital, got to see our ickle baby on the screen and were told everything looks fine & on track!

Seeing Wayne's post and knowing that most people are a good sort really

Things making me happy lately are:
1 - Watching my new kitten playing/exploring/generally being a sod

AND

surviving my first year as a student nurse!! Can't believe it has gone so quick. Have passed all assignments and practice so far, and will get marks for todays exam/work hand-in in Sept. All being well I'll be cleared to progress to 2nd Year branch studies in Sept. Only one more week of practice to complete then a whole month annual leave which will be spent starting over on my very very sadly neglected allotment.
