Hopes and prayers are with you and yours Jackie. Maybe all you can do is be there for them (that will be worth more than you can imagine).

One positive thing Jackie - he came through the first operation, may this be the first of many positives.

Sat here in tears, they are all so far away, son keeps phoning and texting but is in tears as well. Tried to get on with things today but its so hard. I have never met him but so young like most of them. He has a battle on his hands thats for sure, so far so good but the next few hours are critical, at least he is in the best place with the best surgeons this country has.

Jackie, strength is the key, he will have it and a strong will to come through, you will have it through all your friends and family. He will be in the best of hands for this sort of thing. Hard times will follow but strength will bring everyone through to a stronger future.

Such awful news. He will be in my prayers when i go to mass tomorrow. Young people have a great inner strength and I am sure he will be fighting this all the way.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
