  • The Vine made me cross today

Now I don't know about you but I inspected and sorted out my tomatoes today... Now I know that sideshoots make a viable plant that will fruit this year - I find it hard to throw them away...

If they are bigguns I just cant do it....

Damn you vine - I now have about 40 tomatoes...

Maybe I'm just going soft in my old age

I can't do it if I've missed them for a bit and they've got flowers. Flowers = tomatoes.

Although someone will probably come and tell me they'll not survive the trauma.

I have some hanging baskets with Gartenpearl toms in them. They are a tiny plant and well suited to hanging baskets. Problem is I keep sticking sideshoots in the hanging baskets from all my other cordon tomatoes. Some of them have taken, so should make for very interesting hanging baskets!

I've found an armpit which is the same size as the main stem, no idea how i missed it. It's getting a truss now too, argh.

        But yes I'm the same.

I've found 3 today...I really haven't got the heart to nip them out, they have flowers on them and 2 have the beginnings of baby tomatoes.

No matter what the size of the side shots, I still find myself saying, " Sorry, Oh, sorry!" as I nip and pinch!

I was too soft on them last year, & they tried to take over the greenhouse. No mercy, this year!

Oh no. I'm so guilty - any decent length arm goes in water until it roots. The husband's given up and even my neighbour commented this week on my so called tomato plant addiction (despite being a willing beneficiary). I need help.

I have seven on the go. Mostly Marmande. I am going to plant them on the plot outside in some grow bag compost.

I hope they thrive......love big toms.....

I must be ruthless because I nip them off with no guilt feeling at all.

You should hire yourself out. Sounds like there's a demand for an armpit mercenary.
