Oh for a book and a shady nook, whether indoors or out,
With the green leaves whispering overhead or the street-cries all about.
Where I may read, at all my ease, both of the new and old,
For a jolly good book, where-on to look, is better to me than gold...
Love that little ditty.
Just put on the "Other Interests" thread that I like to read. However, I must say that recently "a jolly good book" has been rarer than hens teeth! If I get to the end of a book and cannot remember the plot two days later, or find myself thinking, "Oh, COME ON!!" when halfway through one, I know there's a problem! Sadly the last half a dozen titles I've read have fallen into either - or both - these categories!!
I judge a good book by how strong the urge is to go back to the beginning and starting it over!
So, come on, all you other readers out there, give me some recommendations. I like thrillers, historical novels , humorous stuff - nothing too gory and nothing by Jackie Collins, thank you! Any ideas welcome!
