  • Woodseat Allotments open day

    We at Woodseats Allotment Society, South Sheffield are holding an open day on Saturday 18th June 2011 from 11 am utill 3pm, weather permitting.
    Many allotments will be open for viewing and a chat, plus the society shop will also be open for the sale of plants, tools and other gardening sundries.
    Light refreshment will be available.

        What a shame... I would have loved to visit but we're on hols. I'll let you know when we have a similar event (Archer Lane Allotment and Home Garden Society) if you fancy it. Hope it goes well anyway and the weather stays fine.

          Yesterday (Saturday) was the open day down out allotments so I too my video cam and shot some footage of several (out of more than 100) of the allotments open to the public.
          The site is north west facing on a double slope and most of the plots are enclosed by hedges with gated access. Most have steps or sloping path, some of stone, flags and some grass. Although many are kept in production, it struck me that, despite there being a long waiting list for plots, there must be 20 not being used much at all, and some unused for a few years.

            Shame I've only just see this post Roger, Our PC has gone t*t's up so were all sharing my laptop so I'm not getting much time to myself on it. its great video though mate, maybe next year
