Missing my garden from Athens, but Special Olympics is awesome!

What do you do if you're away from home and miss your garden?

I find myself eyeing up shrubs etc in the street and thinking, 'they need watering and a wee prune'.

Do I need help?

I'm in Athens for the BBC, covering, not the riots, but the Special Olympic games. If anyone is interested in sport - there are some of my reports online on the BBC site.

It's a bit crazy here - my hotel is just 200m away from the main square where it's all kicking off. Tear gas in the air - I wonder what that'd do to my crops!!!!?

I remember watching the dressage at the special Olympics a few years back in absolute awe. There was a woman riding at such a high standard with only one leg. Way way better than I manage with two.

A family friends daughter is in the special olympics, their family are all out there and we hope that they are far away from the riots and that the riots do not spoil the olympics for the competitors.

I do the same. When we get home and we pop the pictures onto the puter for a look, thats when the wife finds all the random garden, plant and flower pictures. I take them for ideas in case I win the lottery and can action all these garden projects.

Your probably sick of hearing it but do keep your head down- think of the plants!

I have the same problem, people look at me strangely when I start absent mindedly dead heading and weeding their garden while I talk. It's genetic, my mother used to do the same but I don't steal cuttings like she did!

Back safe and Garden looking, erm....lush is the word I think. A few salad and spinach have bolted and Ive lost a few chillie plants but over all, not too bad.
All the athletes in Athens are fine apart from a few tummy bugs and one case of apendicitis. The team have done incredibly well.
