Painting IBCs

We bought some IBCs yesterday but we need to paint them or cover them to exclude light before putting them in position and starting to collect water (and we're apparently due for days of heavy rain starting this afternoon ).

What paint can we use that will stick to them, not eat the plastic and be reasonably cheap? (Those spray cans of plastic paint are incredibly expensive and each can would only cover 2 sides )

cover in black plastic, although some of mine have had water in them for months and its not gone green or manky!

I've not painted mine or anything and it's fine - well actually it's not as it's empty but that's a different story. I wouldn't bother if I were you, more work and there's no need.

Intermediate bulk container although some cheeky s*d will probably tell you to google it

Use your artistic talents on it and paint a flowery/vegetably themed mural!

(Better be quick though as its spitting on to rain)

PS Just had a thought, if these bladdy things are INTERMEDIATE bulk containers holding 1000 Litres, how many litres does the LARGE hold! eek!

I have painted large blue plastic containers with shed/fence paint in the past - it didn't work well, and the one that worked the best peeled off all over the place and looked a blimmin mess inside a year. However, I didn't rub them down. I imagine if you keyed the surface first, paint would stick?

Could put a strip of masking tape over the measurement gauge and then strip it off after painting

Grumpy has remembered we have some fairly big tarpaulins somewhere in the famous last shed so we may be able to wrap them. Haven't managed yet - we had to go and be shown round our new lottie ( ) this morning and then had planting to do at home before we could start preparing the bases for the IBCs.

We only had 5 minutes of spitty stuff today anyway. I stood out in it and carried on watering...

If it's got a metal frame round it like the ones on that auction site, is there any reason not to grow climbers up and over it?
