That's because people don't read any more, so they don't realise they are different words (they sound the same, so surely they are the same?)
The usual one I see is "an" written instead of "and".

I just don't read posts that make heavy use of text talk, really wind me up and I find that quite rude as the person can't be bothered to make an effort to communicate properly - I know that makes me sound like an old biddy but my 20 year old niece was moaning about it to the other day so it can annoy the young ones too (or is that two or to...................? )

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I expect correct spelling and grammar at work, I don't even think about it on here, hence you'll often see me breaking out into Tyke. Oreight?

As I read out these posts, we in the Grammar And Spelling Police squadroom do not know whether to cheer or cry...

Seriously though, there has been research done that shows if you are trying to work out what exactly a "different"/alternative form of spelling or grammar is trying to say, you are less likely to comprehend the meaning behind the words, let alone remember the ideas and implications. It's the verbal equivalent of driving through a blizzard.
Add in someone for whom English is not their first language, or who has a dyslexia, and you have reinvented the Tower of Babel.

Or it could be use of Spellchecker by a dyslexic.
Post #47 made me howl with laughter 'cos that's the way my youngest spells (well, that combined with #56). He has an amazing vocabulary but his spelling is so bad that Spellchecker gives him completely off the wall suggestions, which he can't read well enough (OK, OK - "sufficiently well" ) to understand they're not the word he was actually trying to spell. We've had some hilarious results

We still receive emails containing essays for us to proofread - even from Uni.

The one that really annoys me is the opposite of the "him and me are going shopping". It's the idiot scriptwriters that haven't got a clue and stick "I" into every sentence that ought to have a "me", so just about every day TV presenters can be heard saying things like "Join Matt and I tomorrow" or "...will be showing Chris and I how to..."

Oh dear SarzWix I do seem to have opened up a whole can of worms.

Occasionally when I look through the posts on GYO, if someone has posted a comment, and no one has answered, well, I try to be helpful.

Unfortunately, your post sort of 'trod on my toes', insofar as we were leaning on an open door.

I don't think we have particularly upset anyone.

In fact I think some have enjoyed the banter.

Rather an enjoyable one to two too

Not bean anywhere sadly. I got a phone call from O2 telling me I had exceeded my allowance and if it happened again they would ditch me, so I tried to cut down on the interwebby use... (Just For Fun's dangerous - sends me to YooToob to listen to all the new music )
