Trentham Gardens or the Shugborough Estate? Due to the success of our grand day out at Tatton Park and also being asked when and where is the next trip I'm pondering between these two places. So any reports would be useful. Thankyou

Yep, been to both. Depends on what you want. I liked Shugborough's kitchen garden and little shops and my friend's boy loved the gardens. Didn't go in the house though. If you're in the NT you still have to pay parking (I think) but it's not as much of a rip off as Tatton in that respect. Trentham Gardens were rather expensive but really lovely, there's also a monkey world thing next door which OH's niece's really liked. If you have small kids they'll love the mud walk thing, can't really describe but very good. There's also a large garden centre at Trentham and a few shops of varying quality.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

OOh ecky thump, both 'just up the road' and no, been to neither.
I wouldn't say that they are not worth leaving home for, but we haven't found them to be so. It is common for people to travel miles, rather than visit what is on their doorstep. In the case of your two locations that just about sums us up.
Local reports have been more in favour of Trentham.
This is a lovely part of the world. The attractions you mention are very close together, so if you are in the area, why not visit both.
