  • So...............

Why do so many people use 'so' to start a sentence these days

so, what I find really difficult is NOT doing it myself

Where do these verbal 'crazes' come from I wonder.

Well actually I tend to use....well or ummm if answering a question!

Many people now reply to a question by saying 'Right ...' and then answering. Why?

Can't say I've noticed that one.

The one that always gets me is when folk answer a question with "Yeah, no..."

              Which is it?

The one that gets me is people who fill their sentences with "you know" as in

"I ran for the bus, you know, and got on , and you know, paid the fare, and, you know, sat down...."

If they think I already know, why are they telling me?

Yup - that bugs me too. As does 'like' and many other 'teenage speak' words or phrases that are used out of context.

"Well, my friend, well, she, like, goes off on one, like, and ya know, I, like, well, I just sat there, laughing, like. Innit?
