My Sister has a theory, after watching the flies in her place. She reckons they congregate in the part of the room where there's the most air turbulence, ie, where the draughts meet. Luckily Fly-papers are cheap, in bulk, in our local 'once was W**lw*rths' shop or eB*y, so we decided to experiment.
So, we hung a Fly-paper in the middle of the room, between the ceiling lights, as it is roughly central to the doors and windows. That paper has four times the amount of dead flies on it, as compared to the other papers in different parts of the room. We have also discovered that if you can tie the weighted end to a light fitting (we do this with a rubber band), so the Fly-paper hangs in a curve instead of straight down, it is much more effective.
