What a truly carp week!
Tuesday, we had a funeral - always sad. We were leaving for home yesterday morning when (grown up) kids phoned to say the shower was stuck on, so we needed a plumber to come out. We came home a day early to see the plumber.
We had been in the house a few hours and were getting ready for bed when we heard a loud bang outside. We nearly didn't go and investigate but we're glad we did as one of our cats had been hit by a car (it drove off) We got him to the vet immediately, and they stabilised him, but they phoned this morning to ask if they could do more tests and a series of xrays. I asked what the prognosis was and was told pretty hopeless, so we made the decision to say goodbye and have him put to sleep.
When we went in to collect Pedro's body and pay the bill it was 288. On the bill it says they didn't put him to sleep as he passed away before they had chance. I can't fathom why they wanted permission to do tests and xrays when he was so far gone, and I'm struggling with the guilt of us not having Peds put to sleep last night instead. I hope he didn't suffer all night as he had to be intubated, and there was no response from his legs or tail. We're convinced they were padding their bill, why else would they want to do so many things to a paralysed cat?
I have so had enough this week
