She'll love it! After my Kindle, my second favourite thing is the free Kindle app on my iPhone. When I go out with a handbag too small for said Kindle I can continue reading my books on the iPhone on the train home. And it syncs to the page you last read across both gadgets! Cyber magic!!

I would be bereft without mine. Just got back from holiday and it was wonderful to have all those books in such a compact space. I have a leather cover that acts as a stand and a clip on light so I can read "hands free". Great when eating brekkie for example.

I have only just caught up with this thread and you have given me a great idea for SWMBO's thankyou present.

Just one silly question I presume that having to wear reading glasses make no difference.

Hi Colin,Mrs BB wears specs for reading & is finding no difficulties,it will be a great asset when traveling as she normally takes at least 2 but generally 3 books which cut into the ever diminishing weight allowance

I wear reading glasses but if I bung the Kindle in my bag and take it out without remembering the reading glasses I just increase the font size. So you can do it either way.

I have downloaded the nook ereader, but on the brief comparison that I did, Amazon books were cheaper.

Not read the whole thread, so apologies for any duplication.

I've got a Kindle and have been very happy with it, particularly as I commute and don't like taking valuable holiday baggage allowance up on books !

I still love paper books, the look, feel and smell of them (odd I know!). I also find it slightly odd that I can't judge how far through the book I am.

Some of the Kindle ebooks have typos and formatting issues which can spoil the flow of a book, and as someone has said, if you are planning to read in the dark you will need to either buy a cover with an integrated light or an extra plug in one. You also need to be a little more careful with the Kindle if you enjoy reading in the bath !

You have to watch the prices of the ebooks on Amazon, they are up and down like a yo-yo (something I which alot of people I know with Kindle's moan about), but there are a number of free / cheap books, and you can convert books to read on the Kindle (this is a bit beyond my skills though)

I've read so much more since getting my Kindle. Even when my eyes are getting a bit tired I can increase the font and carry on!!

Only drawback so far has been when I take it to appointments where I know I'll have to wait around, so much interest, constant interruptions from people asking what it's like, wanting to have a look!!
Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!
