  • Cut to the Bone

Imagine the scene, AP and Mrs AP sitting in car waiting patiently for another car to park so we could park alongside. Driver parked very badly (I won't mention the gender of the driver) and I had to drive through as no space was left for me to get out . The car immediately beyond was also badly parked so I set off to drive over to the next row of cars and forced another driver to swerve. Naughty me. Anyway, I parked alongside her(old lady) and when I got out of the car, I apologised. She accepted my apology with a smile and then said. wait for it. It took my breath away. "I thought it was a young one"

Corris, That's the point, I clearly am not and she was as old as Methusela. Mind you that's maybe a bit of an exaggeration cos she was driving

If she was as old as Methuselah AP, you probably do look young, to her Take it as a compliment, I would!

see it's all a matter of perspective isn't it - I remember when 20 was ancient and no one over that age had a clue, obviously. All geriatric idiots.

Now 90 looks fairly sprightly to me.

Your response should have been "it is, shall I show you?!"

                  The young ones,
                  Darling we're the young ones,
And young ones shouldn't be afraid.

                  To live, love
                  While the flame is strong,
for we won't be the young ones very long.

                  Tomorrow,
                  why wait till tomorrow,
                  Tomorrow sometimes never comes.
                  Love, me,
there's a song to be sung
And the best time is to sing while we're young.

                  Once in every lifetime
                  comes a love like this.
I need you and you need me.
Oh my darling can't you see.
                  Young dreams
                  Should be dreamed together,
                  Young hearts shouldn't be afraid.
And some day when the years have flown
Darling, this will teach the young ones of our own.
                  The young ones
                  Darling, we're the young ones
                  The young ones
                  Darling, we're the young ones.

I had the opposite experience at work - about 6 years before I took early retirement! We had a surprise audit and all was found to be ok. Auditor said to my boss "I didn't think there'd be anything to worry about, the old ones always get it right!" Could have smacked him!
