My niece just posted on fb that the police have arrived at Romford skating rink where she works and told everyone to go home. Its obviously going to kick off again. Told her to get home double quick and call me when she gets there. She said she was scared.
The more I think about this situation the angrier I'm getting.

Hmmm - had to nip round to our local shops sharpish this afternoon - they were all told to shut down at 4 pm! Unheard of.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Let's hope the police can contain any more rioting and make some arrests.

I know it's hard not to rant, but please lets keep this thread as concern for fellow Grapes, friends and relatives, and leave the whys, wherefores and consequences for other arenas. Thanks for the restraint Grapes, lets be the calm in the storm x

I have to agree with Sarz, I think we all know what we would like to say.

But at this time stay safe everyone.

One of the first times Kissykit said she was glad we lived in an out of the way place, because no one would be bothered to walk all the way from Sittingbourne (4 miles) to cause trouble. She and son no2 had almost gone to a birthday bash at Tap 'n Tin, a club in Chatham, very near to where the 2 cars were torched last night. Some of their friends did go, and were pretty freaked out by it all. (Chatham station is very nearby). Loads of police in Medway when I went up to see Mum today, searching bins, some vans pulled over etc. Might have not been due to the trouble the night before, but you don't usually see anything much going on.
We really feel for people who are coping in such troubled areas as we've seen on the TV, and I hope everyone gets through tonight safely, especially in Manchester and Salford by the sounds of it.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
