Dog (normally quite well behaved) has just decided to excavate a bit of the lawn. However, having gone out to repair the damage, there is just nowhere near enough spare soil to refill the hole. Where did it go?

Little B@gger, eh Rustylady? Chances are the soil was scattered out pretty thinly across the grass - though it might be worth checking his paws to see how much is caught in his claws! Have to nick a bit from a flower bed. Bad boy! When the Devil gives you Cowpats - make Satanic Compost!

It has powdered, and disappeared in the surrounding grass. I read recently (Oscar looooooves excavating!) that the best way to stop them, is to dig the hole a little deeper, put one of her fresh poos in, and sprinkle a thin layer of soil over the top. Add some grass seed and water in!

Bad girl actually Creemteez, but you weren't to know. Reminded me a bit of many years ago when a previous dog of mine excavated an entire strawberry bed trying to get to a hedgehog. Said hedgehog was curled up in the bottom of a pit at least two feet deep, and strawberry plants and earth were scattered all over the lawn. Never did manage to find enough earth to fill that hole either!!

by Marb67I have just given it a real pruning before it comes into leaf in the hope of getting some regeneration and the tree not having to work as hard getting water and nutrients higher up. If this doesn't work I'll replace it next year with something else.
