seems likely that there is a scheduler of some sort launching ads at the premium weekend time and then knocking the system for six at that time

If this is the case, then the advertisers must be well p!$$£d off that the weekend viewing figure must be well down as the SITE DONT WORK RIGHT!

As for Blocking ads... Why should we and how do we do it...

Many of we members are getting long in the tooth and although are fairly computer savvy, we are not geeks with unlimted bugets to have the most up-to-date hardware and software or have super fast broadband.

Dont forget, the main reason we members, and moderators, use the site is to share gardening tips and advice, etc. If ads help pay for the site, then sobeit, but if we have to block adds for whatever reason, then the reason for ads becomes redundant, and if ads gets the backs up of we members, then the site too becomes a thing of the past.

Many of us buy the mag as well as using the forums, so PLEASE TECH GUYS, GET IT RIGHT!

Aye, Dave's given it a bit of a boot up the backside. He's just informed us that he's looking at the best way to go about fixing the issue and will take the best course of action asap.

The main banner still has 'Loading...' in a big white strip to the right-hand part, instead of the rest of the banner.

It is faster though, and I don't have to keep reloading pages. Typical, as I've got work to go and do now!

This issue is diskspace, to keep you all informed. The server has some software which controls it, and theres an issue with the software not deleting backups. You know what they say, it never rains but it pours

Tried to log in over the weekend - gave up, and it's really beginning to p*ss me off. I really don't care what or why the problem exists - other forums do not suffer this continuing weekend meltdown - why do we ? Get it sorted or as I said in a precvious post, members will leave -and I'm about ready to lead the exodus.

Just to contradict you - there ARE other sites that have similar problems - I have witnessed their discussions about it too, although, I have to say, their members have been a little less, erm, 'spikey' and more sympathetic, about the issue.

The only time I tend to try and log on here at the weekend is Sunday night and to be honest I don't know why I bother as I can't get anything more than the top banner, not even see posts let alone read them. As I said on the moan thread one of the most annoying things to me is that by trying to get on I seem to have reset my new posts count so have to manually go looking for stuff, as a result miss loads of stuff. It's defo not my connection / puter though as I can quite happily get on any other site / forum I want.

I wouldn't have been quite so blunt but it is pretty frustrating especially since it seems to be every weekend and that is when most of us have a few minutes to spend on the vine. A bit of feedback from the techies wouldn't go amiss. It's always a lack of communication that lies at the heart of frustration and not the converse.
