Absolutely, leaves dropping off the woodland trees here, hedgerow hips everywhere, all the harvests safely gathered in, winds, rain, mist, early nights, green manure sown, heating back on, first log/coal fire after Summer, opening of red wine in front of fire - I'm loving it

OK Best Things About Autumn Are:-

          My birthday
Leaves raining like confetti around you
No need for a tan/self tan
          Ugg boots
          Scarves - woollen
Socks - peeling nail varnish no issue
          Less waxing :-)
Lie in as hens are up later
Lie in as less gardening/allotment at weekends
Raking up leaves for your kids to fall in and mess up again
Farmer has cut the boundary hedge at thend of the garden (one less job)
          Stews
          Soups
          Soups with cream and croutons
          More time for cooked breakfast
Harvests of veg in - less shopping
Time to bake scones - use up some jam
Time to drink wine in front of nightly fires
Curl up with Mr VVG as less nightly weeding/watering at the Lottie
          My birthday
Long walks with the dogs in leafy lanes and parks kicking them up as you go
          Misty mornings
          Turneresque watery skies early evening
          Clean greenhouse
More time for Mr VVG to get on with DIY jobs, me watching and offering helpful tips :-)

          What are your favourites?!

          PS
Jacket Potatoes with lashings of butter - my potatoes of course
Essence de log fire in the night air
Blowing rings if breath in cold air
          Red noses

            The smell of Autumn
That song the Robins only seem to sing in Autumn
            Mists and fog
            Fungi
            Berries
            Autumn leaves
My Girls (bees) being feed well for the winter
            Apples
            baked potatoes
Soft sunny days - warm soft sunny days!
            The first open fire.
            Candle lit breakfasts
            Warm cosy kitchen
            Crops brought in for storage
            little brussel sprouts forming
            Parsnips and celeriac!
Waders and winter birds returning to wetlands and lakes
ooooh just to much to mention

Heard a 'hooty' owl last night, so close to open bedroom window it woke us both up!

Swallows have gone, ladybirds are only active for a short while now so I've put there winter box near by so they can go in when there ready. Leaves are starting to turn, everything seems to be slowing down...well everything but the dam runner beans...I think there on overtime . And I have lot's of greenfly...what's that all about????

Swallows starting their early morning fattening feed up for the long journey, doesn't seem 5mins
since they arrived, wheres the time gone?? I always wish them a safe journey home.
Nights drawing in, a nip in the air, and misty cooler early mornings. Autumn fast approaching.
                Another cold frosty winter????

Oh Nicos - have a jacket potato and a glass of red. Deeply envious - wish I was in France where you are allowed bonfires without stupid parish council regs or moaning nimby neighbours.
