Poor JanieB, can see why it's freaked you out, though very very much doubt it's sinister as it's so likely to be a mistake. I agree with Reet - you need to be more careful than others b/c of your stalker, but unless it's followed by more texts it IS probably a wrong number and can safely be ignored. Just take a note of the number, try to forget about it, and if they start carrying on it's time to think again. BUT TRY NOT TO PANIC. HArd I know but the only way!

Thanks everyone. I've decided to ignore it.

When my phone was stolen I lost all my numbers, so I bought a new sim and ported the old number to it. I've had the same number for over 20 years with a bit of a change with the number change. Trouble was my service provider has an appalling reputation for lack of signal in this area so I bought another phone from another provider but I can't use the same number with it so I have 2 numbers. I don't want to get totally rid of the old number yet until I'm sure that all the people who I do want to be able to contact me have done so so that I have their no's (if that makes sense).

I get quite a lot of strange texts / messages on my voice mail, usually it's somebody I know who has acciently sent to the top name in their address book but other times a total accident. They don't worry me at all (but I haven't had a stalker which might well make a difference) and I just delete them. The one I had earlier from an unknown number sounded like somebody had just sat on their phone but don't know (or care) how they got my number. By ignoring it you're doing by the best thing.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Yep, it does, it makes you hyper sensitive to anything suspicious. When you've had an ex banging on your front door every day & night for a month, phoning and texting you repeatedly, turning up at work, "accidentally" being where you are too often to be coincidental, and writing to you on kitchen towel in blood (lol ?) ... and still sending you emails 3 years after you last spoke to them...

... you get fidgety. Nervous. Suspicious. Paranoid.

(then you give yourself a talking to, and get on with it)
