I wonder how you cybernetically stick your nose around the door with an apologetic look on your face.... With the greatest of difficulty, I suspect ! Particularly if you went out of your way to borrow the trouble.

Not to change the subject or anything, but I do believe this is a rare moment in the English language. I can see a new and unique phrase being born...
    "You've been quinced"

Depending on personal context, it means to be delighted and/or disappointed at the same time.
E.g. "A new coalition government has been elected. The UK is quinced."
"Government reforms continue to quince the nation".

(Shutting up now, off to sort out hypoglycaemia issues.)
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

Isn't that a bit like the great unwashed throwing their bruised quinces at those in the stocks? Or are they tomatoes?

Sorry. My sense of the ridiculous gets all overdeveloped sometimes when my blood sugar fluctuates...not meaning to annoy anyone or belittle any sense of disappointment !

um...well.....today I went to the pub to be given a whole lot more quince....so zaz, if you're around wiltshire way in the next few weeks, let me know, and i can spare a nice big carrier bag full
they're unripe, the person next door cut half the tree down to put up a trellis....don't blame them, who'd want to live next door to a pub...no answers needed to that rhetorical question by the way

It's ok taff; we have them at work but it's authentic Frenchie quinces that took my eye....and I'm a tad 'up to my neck in it' over the next few weeks so yesterday was really my only opportunity to get them, to make the wine tonight and get it glugging before the mayhem kicks in.

            Thea is closer as well

I'm sure someone will be able to take them off his hands

I wonder how you cybernetically stick your nose around the door with an apologetic look on your face???....he'll be fine, he's used to it

At the moment the travel is luckily less than usual [working nearer home at the moment]; but thanks for the thought. x

I've seen him today but will let him explain .........and I can say with all truthfulness that he is deeply apologetic about events that didn't happen.

I'm sure there is an explanation.....and that he will be on here apologising like crazy once he's back in the home, I mean back home.
