    Went to nearby forest to record Adders last week, counted 97 and some Grass Snakes too.

      I thought they would still be in hibernation! They do hibernate don't they!
      I was reading an article recently saying the adder was in decline!
      Facinating animal, but must confess to being blessed with a bit of a phobia for them. I spent a lot of time living in a moorland setting and learned a healthy respect for them! Shiver!!! Shiver!!!

        The shortest poem in the English Language is called 'Ode to the flea' and goes...

        Adam, Had 'em.

        It's inspired me to write a similar poem, but not quite as short...it is the 'Ode to Eve'

            Male adders come out of hibernation "March the fourth Adders come forth" in spring followed some six weeks later by the females, the young are born live but in Grass Snakes they hatch from Eggs.

              Really interesting Benacre-
              Sobmany of us in the suburbs have seen nothing of the true rural Britain....
              please keep posting with anything you want to share ( even if it's a bit mundane for you!!!)
              Never seen a snake.... and I did my gold D of E !!!!
              Only saw my first slow worm 2 yrs ago in Wellington!!
